Food Standards Agency
The Food Standards Agency is the independent Government department that works across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to protect public health and consumers' wider interests, in relation to food. In short, we make sure that food is safe and what it says it is, because everybody deserves food they can trust.
There are over 600,000 food businesses in the UK and half of our food comes in from other countries. The world in which the food industry and the FSA is changing rapidly. To address the opportunities for better regulation, and to be agile in the face of new risks, we are transforming the regulatory system so that it works better for everyone, including when the UK leaves the EU.
