We’re thrilled to announce that we have partnered with the incredible Green Earth Appeal and their Carbon Free Dining initiative to make the Restaurant & Takeaway Innovation Expo 2019 completely carbon free!
Who Are The Green Earth Appeal?
The Green Earth Appeal is a not-for-profit environmental initiative, helping to change the lives of some of the poorest communities whilst reducing Carbon Dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Through their partnership with the United Nations, and with the assistance of companies like yours, they’re diminishing poverty in some of the world’s most deprived areas. “How?” we hear you ask; they do it by planting trees!
What Is The Carbon Free Dining Campaign?
One of the Green Earth Appeal’s most predominant campaigns is the Carbon Free Dining certification programme. Simple, yet super effective, this initiative is designed to give restaurants a Carbon Free Dining certificate that will certify their devotion to caring for the environment.
The idea is that these restaurants give their diners the opportunity to plant a fruit tree in a developing country to counteract the environmental impact of the meal they have just eaten. This gives consumers the fulfilment that their meal has contributed to an incredible cause that helps to create positive changes in the world. Infact, the campaign is growing so rapidly that it has already counterbalanced the negative environmental impact of over 500,000 meals!
How We’re Getting Involved
We’re super excited to be partnering with Green Earth Appeal and Carbon Free Dining for the Restaurant & Takeaway Innovation Expo in November 2019. Sustainability is a huge focus point at this year’s expo, and with the addition of our all new Sustainability Trail, featuring businesses who offer eco-friendly services to the food & drink sector, our aim is to help restaurants to understand why it’s important to be sustainable, but more importantly how to be.
We would look a little silly shouting about the environment if we weren't doing our bit now wouldn’t we? This is why, with the help of our amazing partners at Green Earth Appeal, fruit trees will be planted in a developing country on behalf of our exhibitors - making our event completely carbon free! We’re so excited about this project and the life changing benefits it will have on so many people in less fortunate areas.
